Suzuki EGR Valve β€” Sourced to Your Derivative

The derivative β€” on a Vitara whether it is the 1.6 or the 1.4 turbo, and on an older Grand Vitara whether it is a four-cylinder or a V6 β€” with that we can price egr valve properly instead of guessing, and quote Suzuki Swift used spares, matched to your car

EGR Valve for Suzuki vehicles

Part of our full range of Suzuki exhaust .

Why two identical-looking Suzukis take different egr valve

Suzuki's current local range is petrol, so exhaust work here is about catalytic converters and lambda sensors rather than the DPF systems that dominate the diesel marques. Cylinder count is the thing people get wrong: most of the range is a three- or four-cylinder with a single system, but the older Grand Vitara was also sold here as a V6, and a V6 is a different exhaust layout entirely from the manifolds back. The naturally aspirated and turbocharged Vitara derivatives differ from each other too, and the rear-drive Super Carry and Eeco are routed unlike anything else.

In plain terms, the call you have to make is whether the section that has failed can be replaced on its own or whether corrosion has already taken the neighbouring joints with it β€” and the model name on the boot lid is not enough information to make it.

Include the derivative β€” on a Vitara whether it is the 1.6 or the 1.4 turbo, and on an older Grand Vitara whether it is a four-cylinder or a V6 when you ask us about egr valve. Two questions up front beats a part that has to be couriered back.

EGR Valve, explained

Exhaust gas recirculation feeds a measured amount of inert exhaust back into the intake, which lowers combustion temperature and cuts oxides of nitrogen. Not every Suzuki has a valve to service, because it depends on the engine and the emissions standard the car was built to, so confirm what your engine actually uses before ordering anything.

How you know egr valve are on the way out

Rough or hunting idle that settles when the valve is disconnected
EGR flow or valve position fault code logged on a scanner
Hesitation on light throttle with no misfire under hard acceleration
Carbon deposits visible in the port once the valve is unbolted
Valve that will not seat fully and leaves the cold idle uneven
Warning light returning within a few days of being cleared

Recognise any of that? Tell us the model and year and we will go and check what we can get hold of for you.

What customers ask about egr valve

What decides which egr valve fits my Suzuki?

Suzuki's current local range is petrol, so exhaust work here is about catalytic converters and lambda sensors rather than the DPF systems that dominate the diesel marques. Cylinder count is the thing people get wrong: most of the range is a three- or four-cylinder with a single system, but the older Grand Vitara was also sold here as a V6, and a V6 is a different exhaust layout entirely from the manifolds back. The naturally aspirated and turbocharged Vitara derivatives differ from each other too, and the rear-drive Super Carry and Eeco are routed unlike anything else. In practice the decision in front of you is whether the section that has failed can be replaced on its own or whether corrosion has already taken the neighbouring joints with it.

What do you need from me to quote egr valve?

The derivative β€” on a Vitara whether it is the 1.6 or the 1.4 turbo, and on an older Grand Vitara whether it is a four-cylinder or a V6. With that we can usually confirm the right part quickly, and we'll tell you whether we're quoting new, aftermarket or good used rather than leaving you to guess.

Does my Suzuki even have an EGR valve?

Not all of them do. Some small petrol engines manage internal exhaust recirculation through valve timing instead of a separate valve, and fitment varies with the emissions standard the car was homologated to. Tell us the derivative and engine code and we will confirm what is actually on your engine before you buy a part you do not need.

Is EGR clogging as serious on a petrol Suzuki as people say?

No, and this is where a lot of internet advice goes wrong. The heavy soot-choked intake problem belongs to diesels, and the South African Suzuki passenger range is essentially all petrol. Petrol EGR passages do carbon up over time, but far more slowly and with far less drama.

Can the valve be cleaned instead of replaced?

Often it can, and it is worth trying first. Remove it, clean the seat and pintle with carburettor cleaner, and clear the passage in the manifold behind it while you are there. What cleaning cannot fix is a failed position sensor, a burnt-out solenoid or a stepper motor that no longer holds position.

Can I just blank it off?

Blanking an emissions control device is not something to do on a road car. The ECU sees no flow when it commands the valve open, logs a fault and lights the warning lamp, and the car is no longer in the condition it was certified in. If the valve is faulty, fix or replace it.

Will a faulty EGR fail an emissions check?

It can, both through the fault code itself and through the poor idle quality and raised emissions that come with a valve stuck open or shut. If the engine light is on for an EGR fault, deal with it before the car goes anywhere near a test.

Send the VIN β€” we'll find the egr valve

The derivative β€” on a Vitara whether it is the 1.6 or the 1.4 turbo, and on an older Grand Vitara whether it is a four-cylinder or a V6 is all we need. We cross-reference it against what we can source and come back with what fits.
