The questions we ask before we price exhaust manifold
Strip away the catalogue language and what you are actually choosing between here is whether the section that has failed can be replaced on its own or whether corrosion has already taken the neighbouring joints with it.
Suzuki's current local range is petrol, so exhaust work here is about catalytic converters and lambda sensors rather than the DPF systems that dominate the diesel marques. Cylinder count is the thing people get wrong: most of the range is a three- or four-cylinder with a single system, but the older Grand Vitara was also sold here as a V6, and a V6 is a different exhaust layout entirely from the manifolds back. The naturally aspirated and turbocharged Vitara derivatives differ from each other too, and the rear-drive Super Carry and Eeco are routed unlike anything else.
So we price exhaust manifold against your specific car, not against a badge. Send through the derivative β on a Vitara whether it is the 1.6 or the 1.4 turbo, and on an older Grand Vitara whether it is a four-cylinder or a V6, and we will come back to you on what fits , what it will cost, and how soon we can have it moving.
Exhaust Manifold, explained
The manifold gathers the exhaust from each cylinder and feeds it into the front pipe, and it does that while heating and cooling by hundreds of degrees several times a day. That cycling is what eventually cracks the casting and seizes the studs into the cylinder head. On many small modern petrol engines the first catalytic converter sits right up against it.

Suzuki Exhaust Manifold FAQs
What decides which exhaust manifold fits my Suzuki?
Suzuki's current local range is petrol, so exhaust work here is about catalytic converters and lambda sensors rather than the DPF systems that dominate the diesel marques. Cylinder count is the thing people get wrong: most of the range is a three- or four-cylinder with a single system, but the older Grand Vitara was also sold here as a V6, and a V6 is a different exhaust layout entirely from the manifolds back. The naturally aspirated and turbocharged Vitara derivatives differ from each other too, and the rear-drive Super Carry and Eeco are routed unlike anything else. In practice the decision in front of you is whether the section that has failed can be replaced on its own or whether corrosion has already taken the neighbouring joints with it.
What do you need from me to quote exhaust manifold?
The derivative β on a Vitara whether it is the 1.6 or the 1.4 turbo, and on an older Grand Vitara whether it is a four-cylinder or a V6. With that we can usually confirm the right part quickly, and we'll tell you whether we're quoting new, aftermarket or good used rather than leaving you to guess.
What does a cracked manifold actually sound like?
A sharp tick or puff in time with engine speed, loudest in the first minute or two from cold. As the metal expands the crack closes up and the noise softens, which is exactly why people convince themselves it has fixed itself. It has not.
Can a manifold leak switch the engine light on?
It can. A leak upstream of the oxygen sensor lets fresh air into the stream, the sensor reads that as a lean mixture, and the ECU adds fuel it does not need. You end up chasing fuelling codes when the fault is a cracked casting or a blown gasket.
Should I have mine welded or fit a replacement unit?
Cast iron can be welded by someone who knows how to preheat and cool it slowly, and on a heavily corroded original that is often throwing good money after bad. A sound second-hand manifold with a straight mating face and unbroken studs is usually the cleaner outcome. Tell us the derivative and we will confirm fitment.
Does the manifold come with the catalytic converter attached?
That depends on the engine. Where the cat is close-coupled it is part of the same assembly and the two are bought together; where it is further down the pipe the manifold is a bare casting. Use the quote form with your model year and engine code so we quote the right one.
What else usually needs replacing when the manifold comes off?
Budget for the gasket and expect at least one stud to shear on a car that has done South African mileage. Heat shields are often rusted to lace and the nuts round off, so a set of studs, nuts and the shield hardware is worth having on the bench before the spanners come out.

Areas we cover
Where you are changes the handover, not the sourcing. Collection or courier is settled when we quote.
Not sure which exhaust manifold your Suzuki takes?
The derivative β on a Vitara whether it is the 1.6 or the 1.4 turbo, and on an older Grand Vitara whether it is a four-cylinder or a V6 is all we need. We cross-reference it against what we can source and come back with what fits.
