Body panels are where that bites hardest, because the badge is identical and the metal is not. We source against the generation code, never the name. Same panel, different vocabulary. Fender is the American term, and here you will hear wing or mudguard, with parts catalogues using all three depending on where they were written. If a supplier quotes you a fender, they mean the panel over the front wheel.

Shallow dents in the flat sections come out well. A crease through the curve of the arch, or a mounting flange that has torn, is a different job, and since the panel simply unbolts, replacement often costs less in labour than the hours of skilled beating and filling the repair would need.

It comes in the donor vehicle colour, which is rarely a close enough match to bolt on and forget. Budget for paint. The outer panel takes its position from the inner wing and the slam panel behind it. If the impact pushed that structure back, a perfect new wing will still sit with wrong gaps, because there is nothing square to bolt it to. The inner structure has to be pulled straight first, which is a jig job rather than a spanner job.

The arch liner and its clips are almost always broken, the repeater lamp often cracks, and the bumper mounting bracket behind the panel takes a knock in the same impact.
