Why two identical-looking Suzukis take different left front seat
Interior parts are where Suzuki's sibling models diverge most. The XL6 and the Ertiga share the mechanical package but not the seating; the Eeco is sold in panel and passenger form with different rear layouts; and entry derivatives across the range go without the mounting provision that higher specs assume is there.
In plain terms, the call you have to make is whether the replacement has to be an exact trim match, or whether a near-equivalent lifted from a different spec of the same car will do the job — and the model name on the boot lid is not enough information to make it.
Include the derivative, the trim colour, and confirmation that the car left the factory with the feature you are replacing when you ask us about left front seat. Two questions up front beats a part that has to be couriered back.
Left Front Seat, explained
In a right-hand-drive car the left front seat is the passenger seat, so it usually wears far more slowly than the one the driver sits in. That is useful when you are matching trim: a clean left seat out of a high-mileage car is often still presentable.

What decides which left front seat fits my Suzuki?
Interior parts are where Suzuki's sibling models diverge most. The XL6 and the Ertiga share the mechanical package but not the seating; the Eeco is sold in panel and passenger form with different rear layouts; and entry derivatives across the range go without the mounting provision that higher specs assume is there. In practice the decision in front of you is whether the replacement has to be an exact trim match, or whether a near-equivalent lifted from a different spec of the same car will do the job.
What do you need from me to quote left front seat?
The derivative, the trim colour, and confirmation that the car left the factory with the feature you are replacing. With that we can usually confirm the right part quickly, and we'll tell you whether we're quoting new, aftermarket or good used rather than leaving you to guess.
Will a left front seat from a different Suzuki fit my car?
Sometimes, but the floor mounting spacing, the rail length and the plug under the seat all have to line up. Seats moved between generations of the same model are the usual disappointment — the shell looks the same and the rails are 20mm out. Tell us the derivative and we will confirm fitment before anything is stripped.
Does the front seat have an airbag built into it?
It depends on the derivative. Side airbags are standard on some Suzuki models and only fitted to the higher-spec version on others, so a seat pulled from a lower-grade car may simply not have the module in the outer bolster. If your car has one, treat the seat as a live pyrotechnic component: battery disconnected, time allowed to bleed down, and an auto electrician to clear the light afterwards.
Can I just replace the cover or the foam rather than the whole seat?
A motor trimmer can recover a frame and rebuild collapsed foam, and on a seat with a good frame and working rails that is often the tidier route. Where the frame is bent or the recliner mechanism is worn, a complete used seat is the quicker fix.
Why is a passenger seat easier to find in good condition than a driver seat?
Most cars in South Africa are driven alone most of the time. The driver seat takes every entry and exit and every hour of the commute, while the left one carries someone a couple of times a week. Yards end up with plenty of tired driver seats and far fewer tired passenger ones.
What do you need from me to find the right one?
The VIN, the model year, and two photos — one of the whole seat and one close up of the connector under it. That tells us the trim grade, the fabric pattern and whether there is an airbag or a seatbelt sensor in the loom. Send those through the quote form and we will match it.
