Suzuki Rearview Mirror, Matched Before It Ships

Choosing rearview mirror usually comes down to whether the replacement has to be an exact trim match, or whether a near-equivalent lifted from a different spec of the same car will do the job. Send the details and we'll come back with Suzuki Swift parts, matched to your car

Used, aftermarket and reconditioned parts. Not supplied by Suzuki Auto South Africa.

Rearview Mirror for Suzuki vehicles

Why two identical-looking Suzukis take different rearview mirror

Interior parts are where Suzuki's sibling models diverge most. The XL6 and the Ertiga share the mechanical package but not the seating; the Eeco is sold in panel and passenger form with different rear layouts; and entry derivatives across the range go without the mounting provision that higher specs assume is there.

In plain terms, the call you have to make is whether the replacement has to be an exact trim match, or whether a near-equivalent lifted from a different spec of the same car will do the job β€” and the model name on the boot lid is not enough information to make it.

Include the derivative, the trim colour, and confirmation that the car left the factory with the feature you are replacing when you ask us about rearview mirror. Two questions up front beats a part that has to be couriered back.

Rearview Mirror, explained

The interior mirror is the cheapest safety item in the car and the one people put up with when it is broken. On most Suzukis it clips or slides onto a button bonded to the inside of the windscreen, so the failure is very often not the mirror at all β€” it is the adhesive letting go after the car has stood in the sun all afternoon.

Mirrors are also not one part. Some are a plain manual day and night flip, others carry auto-dimming electronics, a rain or light sensor housing, or a bracket for a camera, and the mounting foot differs between models and years. Match it on the derivative rather than on the shape, and send the VIN if you are not certain.

How you know rearview mirror are on the way out

The mirror hanging loose or falling off the windscreen button
The glass will not hold a position and creeps as you drive
A silvering that has gone patchy or blackened at the edges
The day and night lever doing nothing when flipped
An auto-dimming mirror staying dark, or never dimming at all
A cracked or chipped mounting foot from a previous refit

Recognise any of that? Tell us the model and year and we will go and check what we can get hold of for you.

Suzuki Rearview Mirror β€” questions we get asked

What decides which rearview mirror fits my Suzuki?

Interior parts are where Suzuki's sibling models diverge most. The XL6 and the Ertiga share the mechanical package but not the seating; the Eeco is sold in panel and passenger form with different rear layouts; and entry derivatives across the range go without the mounting provision that higher specs assume is there. In practice the decision in front of you is whether the replacement has to be an exact trim match, or whether a near-equivalent lifted from a different spec of the same car will do the job.

What do you need from me to quote rearview mirror?

The derivative, the trim colour, and confirmation that the car left the factory with the feature you are replacing. With that we can usually confirm the right part quickly, and we'll tell you whether we're quoting new, aftermarket or good used rather than leaving you to guess.

The mirror fell off. Do I need a whole new mirror?

Usually not. The windscreen button stays on the glass and the mirror clamps to it, so the common failure is the adhesive bond between button and windscreen giving way in heat. A proper mirror-button adhesive kit and a clean, primed surface fixes it. Buy the mirror only if the foot or the stem itself is broken.

What is the difference between an auto-dimming mirror and a normal one?

An auto-dimming mirror uses a forward-facing and a rearward-facing light sensor to darken the glass electrochemically when headlights hit it from behind. A plain mirror does the same job with a wedge of glass and a manual lever that tilts it. The auto-dimming version needs a power feed, so it is not a straight swap onto a car that never had one.

Is this something a roadworthy test picks up?

A mirror that has fallen off or cannot be aimed leaves the driver without a rear view, and that is the sort of defect a testing station notices immediately. It is a small thing to sort out before you book, rather than paying to go back.

Can I fit a mirror from a different Suzuki model?

Sometimes, because the windscreen button and clamp design is shared across a fair part of the range. What catches people out is the extra hardware β€” a sensor cluster, a wiring plug or a moulded surround that only fits one screen. Send the VIN and we will check what your car left the factory with.

Why does the glass look cloudy at the edges?

That is the reflective coating failing, and moisture that has worked in behind the glass is the usual reason. It cannot be polished out. The glass gets replaced, which on most designs means replacing the mirror as a unit.

Where you are changes the handover, not the sourcing. Collection or courier is settled when we quote.

Tell us the car and we'll go looking

The derivative, the trim colour, and confirmation that the car left the factory with the feature you are replacing is all we need. We cross-reference it against what we can source and come back with what fits.
